The storage cabinet according to one embodiment has a first reader that, when a door is closed, reads item information that is recorded on a first tag of all of the items that are stored in a case. On the basis of the reading results of the first reader, the storage cabinet determines whether an item that is past a reference time, which is based on an expiration date, is in the case. When it has been determined that an item that is past the reference time is in the case, a first mode, which restricts the retrieval of items that, from among items that have the same item code, are not items for which the amount of time until the reference time is shortest, or a second mode, which restricts the retrieval of items that are not items that are past the reference time, is selected on the basis of a user operation. |
