<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of prolonging the lifetime of a back-light in an LCD display, along with attaining reduced power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus equipped with an LCD display and a facsimile function, the apparatus comprises a first means for turning off a back-light in the LCD display if manuscript image reading operation continues when a constant period of time elapses after the manuscript image reading operation is started during facsimile transmission, and a second means for turning on the back-light of the LCD display when the manuscript image reading operation is completed after the back-light of the LCD display is turned off by the first means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
