PURPOSE: An information providing method is provided to directly transmit image data from a hard disk to a video buffer without passing through a main memory, to allow a user to easily and rapidly use information of huge images, to provide information of a part of image designated by the user, and to maintain resolution uniformly regardless of magnification of the image. CONSTITUTION: An information providing method comprises the steps of dividing image data into a plurality of image data items at right angles to a direction that pixel data is read, storing the divided image data items(113a-113d,115a-115d) in a storage, obtaining a transmission demand of the user's image data through a communication network, reading parts of the divided image data items from the storage in response to the transmission demand, and transmitting the divided image data items to the user through the communication network.
