<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron-accepting compound excellent in dispersibility into water and solubility in an organic solvent, and to provide a thermosensitive recording material excellent in color development sensitivity, the storage stability of a color-developed image and the stability of skin after color development. <P>SOLUTION: This thermosensitive recording material contains an electron-donating color-developing compound and the electron-accepting compound, and the electron-accepting compound is tribromomethyl sulfonylpyridines which are expressed by general formula (1).
