<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of forming an image having a high image quality efficiently by determining an appropriate timing for detecting/correcting a positional shift through a simple arrangement. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus for forming an image by transferring an electrostatic latent image formed on photosensitive bodies 1BK, 1C, 1M and 1Y using polygon scanners 6BK, 6C, 6M and 6Y to a transfer sheet while visualizing comprises a means for monitoring the operating time and resting time of the polygon scanners 6BK, 6C, 6M and 6Y, and a means for correcting the positional shift of a visualized image. Operating time of the polygon scanners 6BK, 6C, 6M and 6Y is monitored and the timing of positional shift correcting operation is determined depending on the operating time of the polygon scanners 6BK, 6C, 6M and 6Y. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
