<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image control method that grasps the characteristics of an image forming apparatus in a more reliable manner and achieves image stabilization, and to provide the image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In the image control in which correction is made as needed depending on the image information of a patch formed in an image non-formation area of an image carrier, control is exerted based upon image information acquired during the control and image information acquired up to the previous control.
