PURPOSE: A color filter substrate for an LCD device is provided to firstly form color filter patterns on a substrate by a thermal transferring method, and to form black matrices at boundaries between the color filter patterns in order to cover rough color filter pattern edges. CONSTITUTION: RGB color filter patterns(120a,120b,120c) formed by a thermal transfer method are sequentially formed on a substrate(100) by being spaced from one another at certain intervals. Black matrices(130) made of an organic material are formed in spaced areas of the patterns(120a,120b,120c). The black matrices(130) are formed to fully cover rough edge parts(PA) of the RGB color filter patterns(120a,120b,120c). An overcoat film(135) is formed to compensate for step differences as protecting the color filter patterns(120a,120b,120c). A common electrode(140) made of a transparent conductive material is deposited on the overcoat film(135).
