PURPOSE: A semi-transmissive LCD device is provided to remove a protection film, and to use a polarizer having a diffusive layer to increase reflectivity on the second substrate instead of prism sheets. CONSTITUTION: The first and second substrates(110,120) are spaced from each other, and define plural pixels consisting of a transmission portion and a reflection portion. A transmissive electrode(112) is configured by corresponding to the transmission portion. Reflective patterns(114) are configured by corresponding to the reflection portion. Switching elements are configured in every pixel. Color filter patterns(122) are configured under the second substrate(120). A common electrode(124) is configured under the color filter patterns(122). The first polarizer(116) is located under the first substrate(110). A back light unit(140) consists of prism sheets(148), a diffusive sheet(146), a light guide plate(144), and a lamp(142). The second polarizer(125) is attached to an upper part of the second substrate(120). A liquid crystal layer(130) is configured between the first and second substrates(110,120).
