<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable electronic settlement system which smoothly performs an electronic settlement processing irrespective of a communication state between a settlement terminal and a settlement server. <P>SOLUTION: The settlement terminal 1 reads identification information of a user from an IC card 5 and charge information from a charge meter 6, and generates a settlement processing request. Good or bad of the communication state with the settlement server 2 is judged. When communication is possible, the settlement processing request is immediately transmitted to the settlement server 2 so as to make it perform the settlement processing. When communication is impossible, a settlement substitute means 16 performs a temporary settlement processing, and transmits temporary settlement information on the processing to the settlement server 2 afterwards so as to perform the settlement processing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
