<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of measurement error and easily observe the inside of a liquid tube by reducing the effects of static electricity to a pH electrode provided with a glass electrode and a base cap. <P>SOLUTION: In the pH electrode gas sensor, a glass electrode is connected to a base cap, and a diaphragm is arranged in a tip cap. By arranging the base cap at an upper end, arranging the tip cap at a lower end, and tubularly surrounding the glass electrode at prescribed intervals, the transparent liquid tube is formed. The liquid tube is arranged vertically between the base cap and the tip cap. A gas absorptive liquid is filled in a gap between the liquid tube and the glass electrode. A conductor in contact with the liquid tube and the gas absorptive liquid is provided in such a way that the liquid level of the gas absorptive liquid may be monitored. A liquid through hole is provided for a liquid tube tip part to make the tip cap itself the conductor. The installation range of the conductor is restricted within a range indicating half the maximum liquid amount of the gas absorptive liquid.
