<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display driver which is applicable to a display panel having comb-shaped wiring and a normal display panel and drives the display panel corresponding to the direction of an image to be displayed and to provide an electrooptical device. <P>SOLUTION: The display driver, which drives data lines, realizes comb-shaped driving. A display driver 30 includes a gradation bus 110 to which gradation data are supplied in accordance with the arrangement order of the data lines, bidirectional shift registers 140 and 150 that output shift outputs in which shift directions are respectively determined based on first and second shift direction control signals, first and second data latches 160 and 170 which latch the gradation data based on the shift outputs and a data line driving circuit which conducts the driving based on the latched data.
