METHOD FOR PREPARING POROUS SILICA SPHERE USABLE AS LIGHT INSULATING MATERIAL BY HEAT TREATING COMMERCIAL SILICA GEL

PURPOSE: To provide a method for preparing porous silica sphere with uniform pore structure and size having an insulation effect by a simple method using an inexpensive material. CONSTITUTION: The method for preparing porous silica sphere comprises a process of increasing temperature of commercial silica gel to a temperature range of 1,050 to 1,200 deg.C in a temperature increasing rate of 90 deg.C or less per minute and maintaining temperature of the commercial silica gel in the range for a certain time so that the commercial silica gel is heat treated, wherein a raw material having a pore size of about 20 to 70 angstrom and a pore volume of about 0.3 to 1.1 ml/g is used as the commercial silica gel, wherein an average temperature increasing rate of the commercial silica gel is 5 to 90 deg.C/min, and wherein the treatment is performed by using a rotary tube furnace.
