PURPOSE: A variable airbag is provided to optimize the deployment pressure of the cushion and the deployment speed, and to improve the safety and the convenience of the passenger by automatically regulating the gas inflow amount into the cushion according to the load or the volume of the passenger placed on the passenger seat. CONSTITUTION: A variable airbag is composed of a load detecting sensor(54) embedded in a seat(52) of a vehicle to detect load of a passenger; a volume detecting sensor(56) detecting the volume of the passenger inside the vehicle; an airbag body(58) absorbing and buffering impact of the passenger by deploying a cushion at a collision; a deployment pressure regulating unit installed in the airbag body to regulate the deployment pressure of the cushion; and an airbag ECU(electronic control unit,62) connected to the volume detecting sensor and the load detecting sensor to control operation of the airbag body and adjust the deployment pressure regulating unit according to the volume or the load of the passenger.
