<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter which is inexpensive and has an optical output very accurate in temperature compensation. <P>SOLUTION: A light emitting device in which a first light emitting diode and a second diode are formed on the same chip is utilized. The forward voltage of the second diode changing with a temperature change of the light emitting device is measured, and a drive current of the first diode is decreased or increased corresponding to the change of the forward voltage. Or, the light emitting device equipped with the light emitting first diode and the second diode is utilized, and the temperature of the light emitting device is kept constant by the use of heat released from the second diode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
