The system is for the work-friendly stacking of metal blocks (1) used as counterweights for theater draw walls. It uses a mechanism, preferably a spring construction (2), whereby the uppermost block of a stack, after a block has been removed or introduced always assumes a desired height or remains so. In this way, the spacing of the stored blocks is limited both horizontally and vertically to the block bar of the draw wall. This enables a work person to find the blocks blindly without the need to bend. The spring center contains a rod (3).
