PURPOSE: Provided are a coating composition which is improved in flexibility and is excellent in adhesion and flexibility after sterilization, its preparation method, its use for lacquering a metal coil or sheet or the outside or inside of a metal packaging product or preparing a metal packaging product, and a metal product coated by using the composition. CONSTITUTION: The coating composition comprises 55-75 wt% of at least one hydroxyl group-containing polyester; 5-13 wt% of a phenol-formaldehyde resin; 0-12 wt% of a benzoguanamine-formaldehyde resin and/or 0-10 wt% of a blocked polyisocyanate; 0.5-2 wt% of a catalyst; and 5-30 wt% of at least one solvent. Preferably the polyester has an acid number of 0-10 mg KOH/g, an OH number of 3-80 mg KOH/g, a glass transition temperature of -20 to 50 deg.C and a molecular weight (Mn) of 2,000-20,000.
