PURPOSE: A method for controlling power on a portable computer equipped with a touch panel is provided to cut off the power supplied to the touch panel on a battery mode and charge a battery in an electronic pen in case that a user does not use the electronic pen. CONSTITUTION: In the case that the portable computer is operated in a battery power mode not an AC power mode, it is detected that the electronic pen is inserted into an electronic pen installing part equipped with the portable computer(S22). The input power of the touch panel is controlled depending on a detecting result(S23). In the case that the electronic pen is inserted into the installing part, charging power is supplied to the battery in the electronic pen until the battery is completely charged.
