PURPOSE: A method and a system for urgently operating an electronic exchange by using an SMS are provided to confirm a state of an electronic exchange by using an SMS function of a cellular phone, and to remotely control the electronic exchange, thereby remotely controlling the exchange even though an operator is absent. CONSTITUTION: A system connects a cellular phone to an electronic exchange or an operator terminal connected to the electronic exchange. The system transmits a state message of the electronic exchange to an operator's cellular phone by using an SMS of the cellular phone. The cellular phone of the electronic exchange receives a command inputted by the operator from the operator's cellular phone by using the SMS. The received command is finally transmitted to a command control program of the electronic exchange.
