<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive having an arrangement for detecting a motor current with high accuracy without using a current sensor, and to provide an automobile mounting the motor drive. <P>SOLUTION: An AC motor M1 is driven by an inverter circuit 14. A current detection circuit 50 is provided in correspondence with each lower arm element Q4, Q6, Q8 out of switching elements Q3-Q8 constituting the inverter circuit 14. The current detection circuit 50 measures a current shunted from a main current passing through a corresponding switching element and joins the shunted current again to the passage of the main current after measurement. A current calculating section 40 estimates motor currents id and iq by a specified operational processing based on the detection value from each current detection circuit 50. A controller 30 controls the inverter circuit 14 based on the motor currents id and iq obtained at the current calculating section 40. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
