<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time required from when a fault is detected till when a power conversion device is stopped, and reduce the size and cost of the power conversion device. <P>SOLUTION: Pulse signals are generated at a pulse signal generation unit 31 at constant time intervals in periods of time in which serial signals cannot be transmitted. The pulse signals are transmitted from a transmission unit 14 to an optical fiber 15, and received at a reception unit 16. If a fault is detected by a fault detection unit 33, the transmission of pulse signals is stopped at the transmission unit 14 according to a fault stop signal. Thus, pulse signals are not inputted to a reception interval determination unit 35, and the determination unit performs time count operation. When the time counted during this time count operation exceeds a preset time, a fault stop pulse signal is outputted from a pulse restoration unit 17 to stop a power conversion unit 10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
