CONFIGURABLE LARGE-AREA DISPLAY SYSTEM AND CONTROL UNIT USED THEREIN, AND METHOD OF OPERATING THE DISPLAY

A configurable large-area display system and a control unit used therein, and a method of operating the display are provided to have a variable distance between pixels and to control each pixel. The configurable large-area display system(100) has a display(114) including a plurality of sub displays having an array of each pixel. A central controller hardware and software block(110) controls the display system, and a software controlling the display system and generating control data and a video signal to be displayed on the display. A digitizer(112) converts the control data and the video signal into a digital signal appropriate for the display. The digitized control data and video signal are transferred to the next sub display from one sub display. Each sub display is a control unit(116a,116b,116c,116n) which can control individual pixel as a function of its position and the received control data and video signal in the display.
