Production of composite carbon-based electrodes for synthesis of carbon nanotubes by electric arc process, using carbon and carbon nanotube catalyst powders

The production of composite carbon-based electrodes comprises mixing compounds rich in carbon atoms with a binder defined by at least one thermo-hardening resin to prepare a paste, giving the paste a specific shape by the application of pressure and subjecting the shaped paste to heat treatment. The paste is prepared from graphite powder, powdered catalyst elements for carbon nanotube synthesis and at least one liquid phenol resin thermo-hardening at ambient temperature and homogenizing them at ambient temperature. An independent claim is also included for an electrode produced by the above process.
