Blow molding of bottles from thermoplastic preform uses mold mounted on sliding support operated by linear motor for opening and closing

Blow molding is carried out in a split mold mounted on support platens that can slide along guide rails to open and close the mold. Movement of the slide during the molding cycle is performed by a linear motor under the control of markings or sensors and can be adjusted to suit different mold sizes. A mechanism is provided to keep the mold closed during the actual blowing phase. An independent claim is also included for the corresponding equipment driven by a linear motor.
