<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display that can display a stereoscopic image of high resolution and further can easily be manufactured. <P>SOLUTION: A reflecting plate 9, a prism sheet 10 which has an incidence surface 10a where a plurality of thin and long prism parts 11 are arranged in parallel to one another on one surface and a projection surface 10b projecting light incident from the incidence surface 10a on the other surface so that the incidence surface 10a faces the reflecting plate 9 across a space, and a surface light source 8 having 1st and 2nd light source parts 13a and 13b which are arranged on both end sides of the space between the reflecting plate 9 and prism sheet 10 and selectively project light into the space are arranged on the opposite side of a liquid crystal display panel 1 from an observation side; and a control means 17 writes image data for the left eye and image data for the right eye to respective pixels of the liquid crystal display panel 1 in order and while light is projected from the light source part 13a on the right side when viewed from the observation side of the sheet light source 8 in synchronism with the writing of the image data for the left eye, light is projected from the light source part 13b on the left side in synchronism with the writing of the image data for the right eye. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
