The invention relates to a method for the detection and combating of forest and surface fires. The analysis of regions of fire is performed from the air by means of georeferenced infrared data which are transferred to a planning and deployment center (2). With a displa y and planning computer the entire situation is analyzed, represented, and fire-fighting actions are computed from the air and from the ground and communicated to the particular deployme nt units.
