摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a nucleic acid fragment to be preferentially hybridized with a chlorinated ethane decomposing gene of a chlorinated ethane decomposing bacterium, a labeled probe for detecting a chlorinated ethane decomposing bacterium composed of the nucleic acid fragment, to provide a method for rapidly detecting a chlorinated ethane decomposing bacterium in high precision using the nucleic acid fragment or the labeled probe and using the chlorinated ethane decomposing gene as a target, a monitoring method and a method for efficiently decomposing a chlorinated ethane. <P>SOLUTION: The nucleic acid fragment for detecting a chlorinated ethane decomposing bacterium is a nucleic acid fragment composed of 20-25 nucleotides to be preferentially hybridized with a chlorinated ethane decomposing gene of a chlorinated ethane decomposing bacterium and has a base sequence having &ge;90% homology to the base sequence of the nucleic acid fragment or a base sequence complementary to the base sequence. The labeled probe is obtained. The chlorinated ethane decomposing bacterium is detected by using the nucleic acid fragment or the labeled probe and using the chlorinated ethane decomposing gene of a specific base sequence as a target.
