The tubular handle (50) extends from top to bottom of one side of a refrigerator door and is retained in end brackets (70) by plugs (60) inserted into the ends of the tube which has ribs (52) on the inner surface engaging slots (62) in the plugs. In addition the plugs have holes (69) which engage pegs (77) in the recesses (72) of the brackets. Screws (75) hold the plugs in the brackets through holes (66,73).
