<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly durable reversible recording medium which shows outstanding repeatable recording properties and light resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The reversible recording medium 10 has at least one of rewritable layers 31 to 33 in the planar direction of a support substrate 1. The rewritable layer 31(to 33) is constituted of photothermal conversion layers 11 to 13 containing, in a resin, a photothermal conversion material which generates heat by absorbing near infrared rays within a specific wavelength region, in a region; and recording layers 14 to 16 containing, in a resin, a thermal color developing composition which reversibly changes to two colorless/colored states in response to a temperature change, these layers being laminate formed. Materials for the constituent resins of the photothermal conversion layers 11 to 13 and the recording layers 14 to 16, are selected so as not to allow the constituent resins to be compatible with each other. Thus the layers are present in a state wherein the layers are mutually separated/independent.
