<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surface-mount without a trouble a side-view type surface mount light emitting device having a concave part for emitting light opened to a package lateral direction and an external terminal adjacent each other at the side and the bottom part with the concave opening surface of the concave part for emitting light covered with a transparent covering material including a fluorescent substance for converting a wavelength, and to improve reliability and productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The side-view type light emitting device having the concave part 11a for emitting light which packages the light emitting element 13 in the lateral direction of the package 11 has the opening surface of the concave part for emitting light which is covered with the transparent covering member 14 including the fluorescent substance 15 for converting a wavelength. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
