<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a compact authentication apparatus which does not oppress a user and is resistant to external light when a blood vessel pattern of a finger is imaged by transmitted light. <P>SOLUTION: The authentication apparatus includes a guide section 118 to determine a position of the finger, a light source 114 which is disposed at both sides or one side of the above guide section and irradiates it with the transmitted light passing through the above finger, an imaging section 112 to image the above transmitted light, and a shading means 116 to control an irradiation range of the light emitted from the above light source. Moreover, a means to measure a thickness of the above finger and a means to control the quantity of light of the above light source on the basis of the above measurement result are disposed. A storage means to store registered imaging patterns of the two or more fingers, a comparison means to compare the above imaging pattern of the above imaging section with the above registered patterns and a controlling means to control different processes corresponding to the above comparison result are also disposed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
