<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing occurrence of jamming caused by a release pawl and of forming an index image while keeping an excellent image without incurring a rubbing track on the image by recognizing in advance a position of the fixing release pawl when creating an index, and creating the index at another position while defining the position of the fixing release pawl as an index creation prohibited area. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus is provided with: an image forming means for forming a toner image on a paper sheet; a thermal roller fixing means for fixing the toner image on the paper sheet; and a release pawl for releasing the paper sheet from a thermal roller. An index creating means recognizes the position of the fixing release pawl in the lengthwise direction of the sheet as an index preparation prohibited area so as not to prepare an index therein. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
