<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotating electric machine and a method for mounting a winding of a core for the rotating electric machine which prevent production efficiency from being degraded, finely secure an occupancy rate of the winding in a slot, and improve an output characteristic of the rotating electric machine. <P>SOLUTION: After a rectangular winding 18 is wound several times and a coil side 22 as a region inserted into the slot 16 is in a state to be stacked in a single row, the adjacent coil sides 22 are in a connected and stacked state to be partially connected in parallel. Each coil side 22 in the connected and stacked state is inserted into a guide path 32 of a coil side holder 30. An path opening 31 of the guide path 32 is positioned to an opening 17 of the slot 16. Each coil side 22 in the connected and stacked state is pushed from the guide path 32 and inserted into the slot 16 through the path opening 31 and the opening 17.
