<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a person wrongfully carrying a card, from entering a specific institution without authorization by determining whether an actually entering/leaving person himself or herself is permitted to enter/leave the specific institution or not by the face picture of this person. <P>SOLUTION: An entrance/exit management system comprises; a database wherein featured values of visitors' face pictures are stored; a camera provided at the gate of a specific area; a featured value extraction part for extracting the featured values of a subject's face picture from an image photographed by the camera; a card reader which is provided at the gate of the specific area and acquires card information of a non-contact IC card; and a person authenticating part which determines whether a person can be permitted to enter/leave the specific area or not by comparing card information acquired by the card reader and card information stored in a database and determines identity between the subject and a person carrying the non-contact IC card by comparing the featured values of the subject's face picture obtained from the image photographed by the camera with the featured values of face pictures stored in the database. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
