<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intravascular indwelling catheter by keeping both an appropriate antibacterial property and antithrombogenicity. <P>SOLUTION: An antibacterial catheter having an indwelling section to be indwelled in the blood vessel and an operating section located on the proximal end side of the indwelling section is provided. The antibacterial catheter is made of an antibacterial material containing antibacterial metal ions, and the surface of the indwelling section is coated with antithrombogenetic material made of nonbiological material. With such a configuration, the antithrombogenetic nonbiological material and antibacterial silver ions do not interact with each other, and the antibacterial property and the antithrombogenicity can be maintained for a long time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
