DRIVING DEVICE AND DRIVING METHOD FOR DISPLAY PANEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device and driving method for a display panel which can improve the overall linearity of the light emission luminance for input data in the case a line dither sequence is used.

SOLUTION: Each of a prescribed number of subfields continuous within one field is composed of M pieces of the divided subfields and n pieces of display lines are divided to M pieces of display line groups by each of a plurality of the lines. The pixel data corresponding to each of M pieces of the display line groups is subjected to data conversion with different conversion characteristics. The data-converted pixel data is subjected to multiple gradation processing. In each of M pieces of the divided subfields, address scanning to cause transition from a lighting mode to an extinction mode is performed based on the pixel data formed by subjecting each of the pixel cells to the multiple gradation processing as the display line groups different from each other as objects.
