The procedure for making a motor vehicle interior component with a reinforcing layer injected onto the inner surface of an outer trim layer, in which the trim layer (13) is inserted into the cavity of an injection mould (19), injecting the reinforcing layer against its inner surface and injecting a gas, uses a trim material with at least one porous layer (21, 23, 24) so that the gas can pass through it to cool the area (81) of the injected reinforcing material next to its inner surface. The gas can be injected directly through an inlet (75) in the receiving surface of the mould which can be located in an angular region, and the introductioon of the gas can be accompanied by a cooling of the mould's receiving (45) and free (53) surfaces, with the temperature of the latter kept more or less the same as that of the receiving surface during the cooling phase.
