The procedure uses two arc welding torches (14a, 14b) with fusible electrodes (22a, 22b) forming a single fusion bath (34) that creates the weld bead. Each of the electrodes has a rectangular cross-section, the first being located parallel to a plane (P) that is itself parallel to the welding direction (6), and the second lying perpendicular to the plane (P). The two torches are mounted on a frame (12) with their main axes (28a, 28b) parallel to one another and spaced between 10 and 50 mm apart.
