<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and surely perform operation for setting specified devices as communicating parties for a communication apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In a bar code processing system 1, provided with a master and a slave communicable over a network via a radio communication transmission line, if a code symbol read by a scanner unit 6 indicates address information, a device indicated by that address information is so set as a communicating party to be a barcode scanner 2 functioning as the master.
