<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new family of an apoptosis-modulating protein, nucleotide sequences, amino acid residue sequences, derivatives of the sequences, and a method for using these substances. <P>SOLUTION: This invention comprises a substantially purified DNA encoding new Bcl-2 homologs called Cdn-1, Cdn-2 and Cdn-3 and their derivatives, a recombinant cell and a transgenic animal expressing Cdn-1 and Cdn-2 nucleotides, substantially purified Cdn-1 and Cdn-2 proteins and their compositions, diagnostic and therapeutic methods using the nucleotides and the proteins, a method for screening a pharmaceutical agent stimulating the expression of Cdn-1 and Cdn-2, and the protein activity and interaction, and a pharmaceutical agent controlling the expression of Cdn-1 and Cdn-2 and the protein activity and interaction, and a method for screening a protein interacting with Cdn. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
