<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide image forming apparatus and method capable of realizing high quality image formation by curing/fixing ink surely under a state where mutual interference of liquid drops, movement of liquid, feathering, and the like, are reduced on a recording medium by controlling the viscosity of lauding ink and irregularities on ink surface are reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus (10) comprises ejection heads (12K, 12M, 12Y, 12C) for ejecting ink having electroviscous effect toward a recording medium (20), a means (28) for imparting an electric field to ink in the form of liquid drop impacting on the recording medium (20), a means (16) for accelerating fixing of ink on the recording medium (20), and a means for controlling the time difference between a timing for releasing application of an electric field to ink on the recording medium (20) by the electric field imparting means (28) and the processing timing of the fixing acceleration means (16). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
