The gripper has pinching arms (1a, 2a) with flat and sharp ends (1c, 2c) which act as a pincers on opposite generatrix (4a, 4b) of a log (4) to be gripped under the effect of movement of actuation arms (1b, 2b). The arms (1a, 2a) whose ends are supported on the rear and front of the log are in the extensions of the arms (1b, 2b), respectively. The arm (1b) acts as a gripping arm for the log and has an orthogonal handle (7).
