Spherical catalyst has dia. of 0.25-12.70 mm (0.01-0.50 in.) and consists of compressed Al2O3 microspheres. Before compression, these have teh props.: (a) surface area 200-500 m2/g; (b) pore vol. 0.25-1.5 cc/g; (c) SiO2 content 0-15 wt.%. Spherical catalyst carrier has the props.: (a) surface area 100-500 m2/g; (b) pore vol. 0.50-1.5 cc/g; breaking strength 0.45-9.07 kg (1-20 lb.). Prod. is used as carrier for catalysts for fixed bed hydrotreatment processes, e.g. hydrocracking, desulphurisation, hydro-denitrogenation, hydrogenation etc. It has improved activity per unit wt., opt. after impregnation in the usual way. |
