<p>1345378 Polyalkylene glycol vinyl phosphates STAUFFER CHEMICAL CO 2 Nov 1971 [2 Nov 1970] 50792/71 Heading C2P [Also in Division C3] Polyalkylene glycol vinyl phosphates of the formula wherein R is a polyalkylene glycol residue, n is an integer from 1 to 100, R<SP>1</SP> is a hydrogen atom, a C 1-4 alkyl or a C 1-4 haloalkyl group, Z and Y, which may be the same or different, are a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or a C 1-4 alkyl group are prepared by transesterifying a trialkyl or triaryl phosphite with a polyalkylene glycol and reacting the product with a carbonyl compound of the formula wherein R<SP>1</SP>, Z and Y are as defined above and X is bromine or chlorine. The value of n in the above formula is suitably not greater than 10. Numerous polyalkylene glycol vinyl phosphates are listed. In an Example, (1) poly-(dipropylene glycol-#,#-dichlorovinyl phosphate), n = 6 is prepared by reacting dipropylene glycol with trimethyl phosphite, followed by reaction of the product with chloral. Other examples describe the preparation of similar compounds from (2) tripropylene glycol, trimethyl phosphite and chloral, (3) diethylene glycol or triethylene glycol, trimethyl phosphite and chloral and (4) dipropylene glycol, trimethylphosphite and bromal or trichloroacetone.</p> |
