<p>1313786 Dyeing and brightening paper SANDOZ Ltd 21 July 1970 [8 Aug 1969] 35305/70 Headings D1B and DIP Paper stock is dyed and/or optically brightened by treating with a substantive anionic dye and/or optical brightening agent in the presence of a water-soluble surface active agent which has at least one lipophilic group having 10 to 24 carbon atoms, at least one basic nitrogen atom and at least one polyglycol ether radical containing from 7 to 120 glycol ether units. Preferably the surface active compound is the reaction product of 15 to 50 moles of ethylene oxide with 1 mole of a compound in which A is an optionally substituted aliphatic hydrocarbon radical of 16 to 22 carbon atoms and which may be interrupted by at least one hetero atom, n is 1 to 6 and m is 2 to 6. The surface active agent may be added to the paper stock in aqueous solution in which is dissolved the dye and/or optical brightener.</p> |
