Reciprocating mechanism - for traverse mechanisms of textile machines

An endless belt carries a pref. pivotally mounted slide which locates in a channel of a reciprocating block. The channel has two curved branches forming an oval shape, with linear end portions. As the slide passes round one end roller it moves along one branch to an end portion in which it locates, and as it passes around the other return roller is moves along the other branch to the other end portion in which it locates. The mechanism can be used to form uniform yarn packages at yarn supply rates in excess of 100 m./min. Movement block remains stationary at the end of each traverse.
