Antistatic finish - for fibre-forming,crystallisable saturated polyesters

Polyester (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate) fibres, fabrics, or foils, are treated with a soln. of a methoxy-methylated polyamide and a polyalkylene glycol (mol.wt. 200-6000) in an inert solvent (e.g. ethanol) with the addn. of an acid catalyst (pref. toluenesulphonic acid), and then fixed at 80-200 degrees C. The finish is wash fast; softness, colour or other props. of the prods. are not affeced.
