1348280 Curettes MEDICAL TESTING SYSTEMS Inc 19 April 1971 [1 April 1970] 24733/71 Heading A5R A device for collecting tissue samples from the uterus comprises an elongate substantially rigid body having a handle portion 12 and a head portion 14, the head portion being a blade with at least one edge 16, 18 which is disposed at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the implement, so that when the implement is rotated about its longitudinal axis the edge describes a conical path. Adjacent each edge is a recessed groove 20, 22 which serves to collect tissue scraped off by the edge. The distal end of the implement may carry a button 25 the edge 30 of which will scrape off loose tissue as the implement is withdrawn from the uterus. A frangible section 17 may be provided in the body between the head and handle portions so that the head portion may be broken away from the handle portion after use in order that the head portion complete with specimens may be packed in a biopsy bottle. |
