<p>Title cpds. formula (where R' and R2 = 8-22C hydrocarbon gps. R3 or R4 = Me, Et or hydroxyethyl; n and n2 = integers of av. value 0-10; X = an anion), are used to reduce the mechanical strength of cellulose or paper and/or improve its softness. They may be prepd. by addn. of ethylene oxide to an alcohol followed by reaction with epichlorohydrin and then a sec. amine of formula R3R4NH.</p> |
