Gas detector - of tin oxide coated onto a heated refractory tube

Refractory, esp. quartz, tube coated with transparent or translucent tin oxide (SnO2) film connected at its ends electrically to a signal detector circuit, with a heater coil located inside the tube, has a high sensitivity for detecting gases (ppm) with low background noise in the measurement signal. Can be modified by surface coatings, of different types to detect specific gases or groups of gases.
