<p>1319469 Photo-copier SCM CORP 25 Sept 1970 [26 Sept 1969 (2)] 45787/70 Headings G2A and G2H A photo-copier comprises a window for positioning a page of a book to be copied, a wall extending downwards from an edge of the window to enable the part of the book not being copied to extend in the direction of the wall, an illumination and projection systems movable past the window for projecting successive elongate strip portions on the light - sensitive surface of the copy material, the illumination system having an elongate configuration one end of which is co-extensive with said edge of the window and having a planar reflector for illuminating the marginal parts of the elongate strip portion of the page being copied. As shown, the copier comprises a window 21 for supporting a book 13 so that one page is held against the window and the opposite page is held against a wall (77) which abuts and supports the window, a ridge (53) being provided for locating the book. The book page is illuminated by a system 23 comprising a light source 81 through a slit (61) in a carriage 33 in which the system is mounted. The carriage is slidably mounted on parallel shafts 43, (45) between extreme positions 33' and 33"in order to scan the book page. The light source comprises a reflector (99) having a conic crosssection; further reflectors (115), (117) and 119 and either 2 lamps (85), (87) or a strip lamp (85') having a filament 93' with 4 light emitting portions (94), (96). Light from the book page is focused on a moving copy sheet 15 by an optical projection system 25 also mounted in carriage 33. The projection system comprises oblique mirrors 65, 67, a lens system 59 positioned in front of a mirror, a shutter 70 for controlling the intensity of illumination falling on the copy sheet, and a mask shaped so as to compensate for any deviations in the desired illumination. Copy sheet 15 is transported parallel or transverse to the direction of movement of carriage 33 by an endless belt 29.</p> |
